About Donna

Donna Kay Swann

I am Donna, a southern girl from Georgia, where I have resided all my life. Being the only girl in the middle of two brothers made life exciting growing up in Fayetteville, GA. I learned early in life the importance of Faith, Family and Laughter. These are my mainstays in life. My parents were very active in church and taught me about God. He has always been a large part of my life. I attended Reinhardt University and graduated from Shorter University with a degree in early childhood education. For years I had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom, cheer coach, girl scout leader, and classroom volunteer.

Smorgasbord of Sisterhood

Karla and I are cousins and best friends. We have grown up together and spent many summer weeks at each other’s home. We have grown a special bond that few friends have. In fifty years, we have never disagreed or had an argument. We are one of a kind. https://smorgasbordofsisterhood.com/welcome-to-smorgasbord-of-sisterhood/

Family

Rome, Georgia is where I reside, with my sweet husband Jack. I attend Grace Faith Bible Study where he happens to be the pastor. I have five grown children:  Emily (and her husband Dalton), Travis( and his wife Maddy), Tucker and my step-daughter, Sophia. In July I became “Nonna” to a sweet baby girl, Eden.

Work

As my children grew, I re-entered the classroom. For the past twenty plus years, I have been teaching lower grades, where there is never a dull moment! I have spent many years in kindergarten, first and second grades. Currently, I am teaching second grade language arts (reading, writing, phonics, and grammar).

Spare Time

Besides writing, I love just sitting in the sunshine; I am solar powered. I love weeding the vegetable garden, watching the birds at the feeder, and walking barefoot in the grass. Going to the beach with Karla during summer and cruising with my husband in the fall are two of my favorites.
