Caught up in the Crowd—by Karla

As we approach Easter, I am reminded of Jesus standing in front of a crowd. Pilot wanted the mob to release Jesus, but the religious leaders circulated amid the swarms of people. They stirred the people to disbelief, causing them to choose Barabbas!

I am enraged every time I think of this incident. The group praised Jesus one day.

Hosanna to the son of David: BLESSED IS HE WHO

COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the

highest! – Matthew 21:9 (NASB)

However, just days later, the crowd shouted for Barabbas to be the one released while Jesus would be crucified. How easily their emotions and thoughts swayed.

Do I Get Caught up in the World Too?

Then I realized I too betrayed Jesus. I was letting the things of the world distract me, which often resulted in stress. A lukewarm Christian. I would fill myself with Jesus on Sunday. But as the week went by, I was easily affected by the ways of the world.

When I do not walk in fellowship with God each day, I can let anxiety grip me tightly. Instead, I should reach for God’s hand of peace.

Future Goal

I focused more on the world than on God. I need a change. Unlike the crowd, who was so easily influenced by their surroundings, I recognized my desperate need to connect with Jesus everyday.
